dancers in Ioannina-GR 11-13

Posted by Dimitrios (ATHENS, Greece) on 4 March 2007 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

During the carnival the town hall organizes fires and dances in the streets. Oh they have plenty of wood to feed them. Most people wear costumes and dance to traditional songs and melodies, people are having a good time. This one took place on Saturday evening 17 February. On Monday next commences the period that leads to EASTER. This meant in the old times no meat eating for 40 days, nowadays very few people do that.

With the time approaching let’s celebrate the coming of the new year.
Post one image on December 25th with a Xmas wish.
