I took this picture 2 years ago of my mother in law and her grandson Panagiotis. He latter wanted me to show him how is it possible to change an ordinary shot into something artistic. This is the result of his effort using ACDsee software.

Question to all am3s: Do you like to change pictures and transform them into art?

A PHOTO - CHALLENGE – GET – READY - AM3

With the time approaching let’s celebrate the coming of the new year.
Post one image on December 25th with a Xmas wish.
Post a second image on January the 1st 2010 and include a smile with yourself in this picture!

That's an impressive transformation, I love this 'painting'! I like watching all the creative people post processing their photo's, but I'm more down to earth with my own pictures ;)

Hi Dimitrios - this great, and can stand on its own as a work of art. For me, I think that's the difference - one can take a photograph and transform it, but it then no longer "qualifies" as a photograph - it becomes a different work of art. And I don't see anything wrong with it. In the old days, photographers would use, for example, dodging and burning to enhance or transform images, and they also were works of art, different from the original film negative.

I tell you what, D....print it big, mount it on a back frame and put it on the wall! I bet it will make a great statement! Yes, I like to play with my photos, point is.....how to MAKE them LOOK like ART! This is not easy!

@Japanalia: well many cameras offer free software that transform a picture into a painting, ACDsee is one of them. Some you can download for free from the internet. I know photoshop does it. Now nothing is easy, but experimentation can be rewarding if you persist, time is needed. Kind regards D.

I guess it either works or it doesn't - some things translate well to abstract images and others maybe don't - either way it's fun to play around and experiment

Beatufiul abstract, stunning enough to hang on the wall.
I love working with images and transforming them. I like to be flexible in all aspects of photography and photoshop. Although since being part of AM3 I have focused more on photography techniques and camera knowledge. Love the AM3 community.

yes, I like to make the ordinary into abstract shots, it so easy to render a different perspective and not everyone sees the same thing

i like the effect! it makes a very interesting image!
however I personally don't like to alter MY images with effects - my interest in photography is mostly to observe and in a way 'preserve' the details of the environment around me. i guess i approach photography in more of a scientific manner rather than an artistic manner.

after having that opinion yesterday, today i discovered the joy of creating fractals images (one of which i will post tomorrow) which are quite arty and purily creative! haha. but they are entirely science too so now i really don't know where i stand - but that is the good thing about photography - it can constantly surprise you!
