in danger!

Posted by
Dimitrios (ATHENS, Greece) on 25 February 2008 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

This bird was so cold that it did not move at all when I got close. Temperatures below zero kept it there! This is the other side of a white winter in Athens.

Poor thing. They can't build fires for warmth in cold temps.

Barbara from Florida, United States

Nice close up and detail. The dove is in the sun and that may not be warm enough. Makes me wish there was something I can do. It is surprising to see such icicles in Athens.

Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, France

Beautifull picture and composition of this bird with stalactite of ice just behind. It's cold but it's fat... so i think it can stay without eating a couple of days..... even if there is still a lot of snow in Athens !!!

25 Feb 2008 1:18pm

@Evelyne Dubos: these birds are SURVIVORS, REGARDS D

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

Its misfortune was your luck because the shot is excellent!!!Not only the bird, but also the blurred icicles, too!

@Japanalia: blush-blush blush you are kind

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

Nice close-up! The icicles look so daunting for the bird. Hopefully the bird got cover before itr was too late. I was also surprised by the low temps in Greece.
