Buhara is the capital of carpet making in central Asia. If you like carpets you are going to have a feast there. Prepare to bargain hard, don’t ruse, take your time, start by placing your first offer at 60-70% less than the first price quoted to you and gradually settle for something around 50-60% of the initial value. People are clever you know and not so desperate to sell CARPETS at any low price. Smile, talk, think, at the end if you like something a lot it will come to you possession at a price that makes all parties HAPPY

Very colourful scene, indeed! Specific design to the history and customs of the area! How do they use the carpets? On the floor or on the walls?

29 Jun 2008 7:44am

@Japanalia: on the floor, since they have little furniture, regards D

Illuci from Hurdegaryp, Netherlands

I can see you are a businessman Dimitrios. Like Stephen Covey says: strive for a win-win situation. But the problem is also how do you carry a carpet home with you? Then better start a carpet business and order a shipment of let's say one hundred. These things I'm always dreaming of, but dreams are not actions so what am I waiting for? I don't know. But really I'm mouthwatering seeing this.
